Stakeholder Management for Physicians: A Two-Part Leadership Series

Hospitals, healthcare systems, and clinical practices are some of the most complex organizations to lead. The complexity is heightened by the fact that: 1) the United States is facing an increased rate of burnout and acute shortage of healthcare professionals; 2) cost and profitability pressures are leading to multiple waves of market consolidation; and 3) advances in technology including AI are presenting opportunities and disruptions to clinical practice.

Physician leaders find themselves face-to-face with this situation. Despite their extensive scientific training, they may lack deep training in leadership, business, and digital acumen. While many of these skills can be learned on the job, this two-part leadership series begins to equip physician leaders with some core leadership frameworks to become effective leaders.
