Stakeholder Management for Physicians: A Two-Part Leadership Series

Hospitals, healthcare systems and clinical practices are some of the most complex organizations to lead. The complexity is heightened by the fact that: 1) the United States is facing an increased rate of burnout and acute shortage of healthcare professionals; 2) cost and profitability pressures are leading to multiple waves of market consolidation; and 3) advances in technology including AI are presenting opportunities and disruptions to clinical practice.

Physician leaders find themselves face-to-face with this situation. Despite their extensive scientific training, they may lack deep training in leadership, business and digital acumen. While many of these skills can be learned on the job, this two-part leadership series begins to equip physician leaders with some core leadership frameworks to become effective leaders.
 

Part I - IQ, EQ, PQ: The Essentials of Physician Leadership

Leadership, at its core, is one's ability to influence and inspire change. This session will introduce the three essentials of effective leadership:

• IQ: Our technical proficiency and knowledge
• EQ: Our ability to manage ourselves, relate with people and solve problems
• PQ: Our political savvy, ability to build alliances and get things done

 

Part II - Influencing Without Authority: Understanding Power and Politics
June 4, 2024 at 7 to 8 p.m. ET | Register for Part 2

This session takes a deeper dive into the concepts of power and politics as enablers of effective leadership. We will delve into:

• Various sources of power
• Various components of political intelligence
• How to utilize them in the workplace to influence and inspire change
